One family, one land, one passion
Our winery is located in a unique geographical context.
For us, Puglia is an "Ancient Land," a mosaic of natural beauty ranging from pristine beaches to crystal-clear waters, through lush forests, ancient caves, and protected areas. We are in the heart of the Terra di Bari area, a unique territory where vineyards and nature coexist in perfect harmony. Here, between 250 and 350 meters above sea level, the calcareous soils give our wines minerality, freshness, and aromatic complexity. It is this "Ancient Land" that gives character and identity to each of our labels.
The historic cellar
The winery is located in Cellamare, just 12 km from the capital of Puglia – Bari, in the heart of the historic center dominated by the Clock Tower and the Caracciolo Baronial Castle. The town was once a summer residence for the archbishops of Bari and took its Latin name of "Cella Amoris," depicted on the Cellamare Tower's coat of arms. It is where Cantine Di Gioia drew inspiration for its selection of wines. wines Villa Amoris.
The winery's structure dates back to 1972, a veritable labyrinth dedicated to winemaking. With more than 80 concrete tanks built 7 meters underground, ready to receive the grapes and create the new vintage's wine. Some of our tanks can hold up to 100 quintals of grapes!
Since 1998 the Di Gioia family The historic cellar has been maintained and renovated, still using the precious concrete vats today, an ideal material for preserving and maturing wine, preserving the freshness and vivacity of the grapes, enhancing their natural aromas and flavors.
